Mixed Media Canvas-White Rose

Since borrowing a serving spoon just like this for my sons wedding last July i have wanted to add it to a canvas, as tempting as it was is wasn't mine lol
but wondering round the car boot as i do most Sundays i can across this one, and a few more lol
well i had to didn't i?!?

At first i wasn't going to colour the spoon at all but it just didn't look right, i wanted to keep the metallic colourway though, and i think i managed it.

first off i covered my canvas with an embroidered voil using gesso as my glue, left it to dry then gesso's again.
this makes a fabulous background don't you agree?

then i glued on my spoon with 3d gel, its not going any where, but i did leave it to dry well before i started playing.

i then added all my metal  and acrylic embellishments, again leaving to dry well before i added any colour.
when it was all nice and dry and secure i went over it all with black gesso.
apart from the rose obviously.
time to play with colour, lots of silver, green and dark turquoise (cant think what else to call the colour) i layered it all gently with a brush, just keep going over until i like the colours.
lastly it was silver wax, like i said i wanted it to stay metallic.

then it was the rose, it has been gently coloured with silver, just so that it wasn't bright white, it just didn't go!!
attached with 3d gel, then i splattered with the dark turquoise, and onto the rose to bring it into the piece.
when i was working on it it was by lamp light at night and although i loved the colours then, when i was taking the photos in the daylight i was even more impressed with the colours.

very happy with the result.
