EEK-Soon be Halloween

I've really had fun playing with my Halloween kit from Louise at Thompson craft supplies
The fun papers and all the ephemera made it very easy to create,
this time its a mini album, about 8" x 8"

all the papers and other ephemera are all from past kits, combined to make this kit, you can have one put together  just for you, just give Louise a budget and some ideas of your taste and she will do the rest.

made from scratch no base book, the base is some cardboard from a packing box from work, folded into shape.
scored and folded card make the inside spine where i have then fixed my pages, couple are fold out pages to add interest and extra scrapping space.

lots of fussy cutting and layering on the cover with patterned papers layered onto the black cardstock
which gives a great frame to each page.
added texture from the hessian, ribbons are art grit make it a very tactile cover.
oh and don't forget the splattering!!

inside each page has has been framed with the black and covered with patterned papers, with lots of pockets and fold outs, some added embellishments and its ready to add some photos
and maybe some more embellishments.

oh and can you see the bunting, card and fabric combine, love my Halloween bunting!!

Sunday, cuttin n stickin

well what a fab Day i had with Louise and Kasia
plotting and planning, cuttin n stickin!!

we were planning a 2020 retreat, making samples of some of the fab new papers in the shop Thompsonscraftsupplies

spending time with fab friends and eating a gorgeous lunch, what more could you ask for.....oh to do it all again soon please!!

these are AB Studio Breeze of the Forest papers, absolutely gorgeous and the quality of these papers is amazing, just loved all the fussy cutting, and layering, one of my fave ways to craft.

started off on the book and i covered the front cover with one of the 12x12 sheets, sanded, inked and sanded again the edges and all over, then i coloured a heavy paste and stenciled some flowers which matched the papers perfectly.

i then went over with a clear gesso.

next was a lot of fussy cutting and picked where my design was going, top left corner and bottom right corner.

i decided on my layering, and then using something to give height to the elements, either folded card, lefteover mdf pieces, those that are left in the sheets or 3d foam pads, i layered up and stuck my pieces in place using 3d gel.

tucking bits behind, lots of overlapping.
then the splattering with watered down white gesso.

when it was all dry i coated it all with a layer of clear gesso to help protect in when in use.

The Gift box

it was the same principles for my box i cut my pieces to fit the tops and sides on my box, using some open scissors i distressed the edges, stuck them down , inked the edges and then covered with some clear gesso which dragged some of the ink into the main paper which gave a lovely effect.

i layered up with some cheesecloth first then the fussy cut elements.
i added my title then covered my title and splattered with watered down white gesso.

Collector of Curiosities- Halloween Bunting Hanger

I Just love the title of this!
I'm a collector of curiosities....and stash and even more stash ....and just in case stash!!
and a collector of much randomness!!

The paper pad is Hocus Pocus from Piatek Trzynastego from Thompsons craft supplies
and some other Halloween papers from Louises mixed Halloween bundles.

firstly i covered the bunting banner with card stock and randomly stamped over it with bits of an image, just broken image not a solid full image, then i gently inked the edges.

firstly i did some tearing of my backing papers, the purple and the orange and layered them up on my background.i also added some cheese cloth to my back ground.

oh look at the wonky tassel, that's bugging me lol

i did lots of fussy cutting from the paper pad and gradually layered it all up using 3d foam pads and 3d gel. tucking bits behind and overlapping each other, this is great for using part images too, if an image is going off your original paper you can still use it by just tucking it behind something!

i then punched holes in my top corners and at the bottom to add my string hanger and my wonky tassel lol the tassel i did colour as it was a light blue and didn't work so i used some mixed media spray ink to colour it.

Crazy Patchwork cushion

Crazy Patchwork Cushion

i love just going with it and see where it ends up and this is one of those.
using strips of fabric, no measuring, just put the ruler down and cutting, some lace and bobble lace and go with it......this is the result, love it.

i know not everyone can just "go with it" and need a pattern to follow, and that's fine too, so i will be doing a pattern with instructions to follow to re create this gorgeous funky cushion.

i love the bobble lace, no order to where it or the other lace has been placed and no order to the strips of fabric, just whatever fitted went!

i then finished with some top quilting,
the stitching adds another point of interest to the cushion.

i edged with the bobbles too and made a simple back with a central zip, although this could also have been an envelope back or a buttoned one, anything goes.

Getting Ready for 2020-Fabric Covered Diary

2020 Diary-Fabric covered with applique flower design and pen pocket.

The year is flying by and it gets you to thinking, thinking about what your doing, and what you really want to be doing, i'm not getting any younger, none of us are!!
and i really want to be doing what i really enjoy and that is creating, creating things i love to make. so i have decided to go back to what i enjoy, i am going to be finding new fabric suppliers and designing new fabric goodies, for workshops and kits and just to supply some gorgeous fabrics for people to create their own things too.
i still have my love of paper, boy you should see my scrapping room! i am still designing my scrapbook layouts mini albums and other crafty things, designing for other people too so i am fulfilling that side, plus there will be scrappy workshops too as requested!!
but i love fabric, i really miss it,
 Sooo
Let's Sew It !!

this will be appearing as a workshop and kit....... work is happening on revamping the cabin and decorating the facilities!!
plus i am going on retreat in a couple of weeks, time to relax and to design!

using a raw edge applique for the flower with some gorgeous fabrics.
plus a pen pocket cause i can never find a pen!!
i hand stitched round the details, it really does add to the design, but for those non hand stitchers you could use the machine or miss it out all together, still a gorgeous design even without it.

oh my i love this flower, and a gorgeous button to finish it off!

so my diary is ready for 2020.
