Mixed Media Butterfly Photo Frame

love the results on this photo frame, it started off just a smooth brilliant white frame with molded butterflies, nice enough if you like white, which i do but i like colour more.......

so i added colour!

really hard to see what the colour is from the photos

its a mix of reds and blues so you have some gorgeous pinks and plums going on.

i first painted in with gesso then let it dry, then went over again stippling the gesso to add some texture to the butterflies.

the colours are from the imagination crafts spray ink range, love them, and my hands were a lovely colour too!!

you can see the colours better in these photos.
after using my heat gun to dry and going round several times finding white patches i then added some silver wax that picked up the texture in the butterflies

a quick alteration and loving the result.

Mums Mixed Media Butterfly Canvas

Every year i make something for my mum for her birthday and christmas, two years ago on christmas eve we lost my mum, on sunday it was my mums birthday,
happy birthday mum i made this for you xx

always go pinky/purple colours so wanted to change it up a bit this time, wanted to go orange but then loved tho other colours that were sitting on the desk in front of me so decided to add some of those in too.

lots of metal and resin flowers and butterflies
, my mum said when i am gone look out for the butterflies, i have had a butterfly in my work room all week!!

the paints i used are the imagination metallic paints, just love them, you cant see the sparkle so much on these photos but its gorgeous.

so i firstly used paste on the canvas and added texture with paste, glass glitter and glass bead mix, gesso'd all my embellishments and left to dry

i then did my background first messed around with paint until i was happy and then painted and added my flowers and butterflies.
then it was some paint splattering then wax then back to splattering.

thats the simple step by step but you know what its like when you change colours, paint goes on paint and then some more lol until you are happy, i even have paint on my phone as it was all over my hands
but i am very happy with the result.
hope you like.

Art Journal- I Spy

I thought i would try out my water colour paints last night mmmm im not an artist lol and it didnt go well, not sure if it was all me or my brushes too so i had to revert back to my trusted marker pens.
i think i saved it !!

its very therapeutic playing with ink and stencils and then chucking water about , kept me quiet for some time.
love the effect you get when the water brings off the ink, so i had distress inks, stencils, paint splatters and water splatters.
then i stamped my main image and removed the ink from within with a wet wipe.

i then started with the water colours but soon realized i am no artist and moved back onto my marker pens, a mix or promarkers , spectrum noir and stampin up markers.
happy with the result although i do think i have some dodgy fingers going on lol

Mixed Media Friend Heart Hanger

I just love this photo of my BFF and myself, taken in august this year down our allotment, i dont take good photos but i like this one lol

not my normal colours but i wanted to bring in the colours from my jacket, not that you can see them now it has been cropped and decorated.
never used to be a lover of green but more recently i am in love with green!! funny how our tastes change.

really enjoy making the background for my mixed media projects, i love to use chipboard  and metal, we have both on here and  my glass glitter mixed with paste gives a fab texture, if i could just make backgrounds with nothing else that would be great, but that would just be silly lol but i do enjoy it.

a bit of foliage is a must and flowers, i am a very floral crafter, they seem to get in on most of my projects .
so love this finish.

Its Crochet Weather

when its cold and raining and you just want to snuggle up inside in the warm, that's crochet weather!!
well it is for me, couldn't pick it up much over the summer i mean who wants to sit in 30 degree heat and crochet with a blanket on your knee lol
NOT ME !!
but that causes a little bit of a problem,
i have two blankets to finish for Christmas ( among many other things) this one is 3/4 of the way done and another is not even started.....so crochet hook in top gear.

love the colours of this, this is the second one i have made of this design, well third if you include the baby one i made with the leftovers!

so another one to make different design and colours, must get it started at least before i go away on my week long retreat, some serious crochet time to be had there!

and then there is this lot below, this is for me though, the lilly pond design in new colours, might take this away with me too and at least start it, or it may wait and be my christmas project, i always start something on boxing day just for me!!

the crochet doesn't mean i haven't been doing anything else, oh yes i have but i cant show you much as this is a present so just a glimpse for now

can't wait to be able to show you more but that's it for now

i have another project on the table too so will maybe get that finished tonight, i am giving time to each craft type, after spending time outside with the bunnies it's a couple of hours in the cabin with whatever paper craft or mixed media i have going then inside in front of the telly with the hook.
I've got a plan lol

enjoy just chillin in the sun taken from another summer kit,
i cant remember which one

the stick for the windmills are skewers from the bbq chopped in half and painted.

Spooky Mixed Media Halloween Tag

Love playing Halloween ,
i said i would be jumping back here again lol
i don't know why i enjoy it so much, i think i like it slightly more than Christmas lol

using gesso on the tag, spread quite roughly to give some texture, when dry i painted with a brown and yellow mix acrylic paint, i then added some fibre and art stones on the bottom and the pumpkin.
when dry i painted again.
cut out my dies cut shapes, double layers and then glossy accent on them to give the shine.
i then stamped the whole tag, first with a script then with the free circle stamp from the recent craft stamper magazine using stazon ink.
i then added my die cuts

i inked round the edge with black stazon and  picked up the detail of the pumpkin and the art stones plus the spider web

lastly i splattered  all over with the yellow and brown paint mix.

Mixed Media Snowman Tag.

Told you i jump all over the place, from Halloween to a beach layout to a snowman and then i am going back to Halloween lol

i just go with whatever pops in my head at the time!
and this is what popped in on wednesday........

the tags were made for me, so very happy with those, two different sizes, this is the larger about 4"x8" so plenty of room to play.

some fab poinsettia dies i have that have been inked and heat embossed and snowed up with some gesso then splattered, the same for my leaves and holly

love the effect of the splattering, really does bring things to life.

my background is gesso , unevenly spread to start then i added my snowflake wooden embellishments, i then went in with some gesso and glass glitter mix for the texture.

i found and old spritz of unknown make of Mums which was perfect for my snow, trying to get the mica glow to show in the photos but not having much luck, i also added some lyndy's spritz colours and i wanted to bring the red poinsettia into the rest of the tag so bordered with it

my snowman die is one of the original big sizzix dies, love it,
with gesso and glass glitter sprinkled on top to give him some texture, i then distressed his hat and scarf
oh and dont forget the bells on the hanger,
i have a ton of those bells, had them for years but this is the first time i have used them lol

love my snowman tag !!

Summer Fun Scrapbook layout.

I have so many ideas going round my head and not enough time to do them lol.
this was a quicky i finished this evening, one of the many i have from our long weekend away last month at the seaside.
the weather was amazing and we spent a lovely day on the beach.

using papers from the beach life range and ephemera from the summer fun range , gesso and ink painting and splattering (of which i got more over my face lol)

i made the title by printing with foam letter stamps and then outlining,
a simple but fun page.

Mixed Media Organizer Revamp

I was left with a couple of organizers for this year, they were unclaimed prizes from last December for year 2018 and seen as i never throw anything away they have been sat on my shelf waiting for the revamp they needed....and here it is.

it is a soft body diary with 2018 across the centre, i have gutted it not sure if it will become a planner type project, i have some lovely heavy chipboard dividers that will fit in it and some photo sleeves so maybe a project life style !! we shall see.

it is the magnet closure style so i had to be careful not to load it too much where they needed to be to allow it to still make contact, just enough paste and it still works fine.

so it has stenciling with paste,
i found a wire and gem type flower thingy....great description right !!
on top left of the main photo.

a clay heart , glass beads, flowers and gems.

some metal embellishments, the bee, leaves and the key.

then lots of ink and water, just kept adding and drying until i was happy with the colours, i think  the colours are a little bit stronger than the picture is showing, really hard to get the them correct on the photos plus your computer will change them anyway lol

i then went in with the trusted wax, this time a gold in the last photo i am trying to get the gleam of the wax, it really does finish off a project and highlight the shapes.
