Patchwork- Bits and Bobs Bowls

Patchwork Bits and Bobs Bowls

Like the title of my blog suggests i jump around a bit, the day before i was on mixed media, yesterday i was on sewing, today was nothing crafty i was on the phone and then just slobbing in front of the telly whoops, tomorrow... who knows !!

using the lily pond fabrics and just winging it,
i just played with shapes and some of the stitches on my machine.
with bosal wadding, i ended up with these three very useful bowls.

Under the Sea- Mixed Media Tag

Under the Sea -Mixed Media Tag

loving the colours in this tag, a project for Thompsons craft supplies.

for this project i used ......
Dina Wakley acrylic paint- ocean
13 arts fine grit
finnabair mettalique wax firebird
mitform metal embellishment - ships wheel
Dritz cheesecloth

i also used imagination crafts mix media ink spray light green, some mdf pieces, some real shells from a lovely visit to the beach last year, white gesso and heavy paste.

to start i put a layer of gesso and dried it, then added the heavy paste , when this was dry i started adding my elements using gel medium as my glue, the cheesecloth, mdf pieces, shells and the mitform ships wheel.i gesso'd it all and left it to dry.
i then added some gel medium here and there and sprinkled with the grit.

when this was all dry i coloured using the ink spray and paint, when that was dry i dry brushed with some gesso.
i dry brushed with the firebird wax and added the gold dots.
lastly i added my title that i sponged with white gesso and edged with the firebird wax.

Enjoy the Journey - Art Journal Entry.

Enjoy the Journey.

well i was enjoying the journey, after struggling in lock down to start with but then getting used to it,  as i was sitting enjoying crafting this piece which i love i have to say!
we got some really bad news, putting myself and my daughter out of work again, i will tell more on this story another time.
i still love this piece of course lol
not at all what was in my head when i started it, funny how it changes as you go along and actually what i had intended i cant even remember now lol
the colours are not my go to colours at all, maybe i need to come out of my comfort zone more often and see what else i actually love. i do love yellow roses though !!

it has music paper from an old music book, feel bad about it but in me defense the book was in pieces and i saved it from the bin and turned it into a piece of art.
then i added some paste through a stencil, added lots of texture, gesso and paint . the main colours are using my water colour paints and lots of water to move the colours around.
some stamping then layers including lace, doilies, papers, ephemera, my final top piece and title, on the balance page i added the lace again , gorgeous little frame and matching flower.
lastly i used a finnabair wax to bring out the details of the stenciled paste.

Journal-Little Pages of Art

Sometimes its nice to just sit down with an empty head and see what happens, when nothing else is in my head this is the place to go to play, got several little books on the go, the only rule for this journal is that it has to have something flower, foliage or nature related, maybe not the subject but on the page!!
that leaves it wide open as i use them a lot in whatever i create lol

Bag, Organizer, wallet and purse collection.

What gorgeous fresh fabrics from Debbie Shore, they have become one of my recent fave fabrics and paired with this denim, i'm in love, did the denim to keep the fabrics fresh and clean on the inside, hate it when things get all grubby so quickly in daily use.

the set which comprises of organizer with notebook and diary, kept in lovely pockets and a little coin purse and business card pocket.
then my wallet with zipped compartment for coins, credit card dividers and pockets for notes and another for my phone, all in one place.
a later addition was the 3 purses for different activities.

all kept neatly together in the bag so i can at last be a little organized instead of forever searching lol

Fly- Log Slice Layout

Fly Log Slice Layout.
just love these logs slices they make a lovely and different back ground to work on.
another of my projects for Louise at Thompsons craft supplies

for this project i have used.....
shabby velour vintage green paint
Tim Holtz ideaology- botanical
botanical papers.
Hobbilicious mdf FLY

from my stash i also used some cotton lace, stencil and paste and clear gesso

to start i clear gesso'd my log slice and played with the paint until i was happy with my colours, i then when dry added my paste through a stencil and dried again.

i randomly added my stamp, not the complete stamp just bits in places all over.
i cut my back ground papers to size, distressed the edges with my open scissors and inked to age them.
i added my lace which had also been aged and layered up my papers using 3d foam pads and gel medium to glue but not right to the edges so that i can tuck other elements under if i want to , i chose several pieces from my ephemera pack and decid'ed on my layout, glued them in place and clear gessod them all.
i then painted my fly with white acrylic paint and finished with some splattering.
