Focus on the good- mixed media

The 3rd piece from my Kit and Kaboodle spring birdsong kit.

for this one i used one of the bird house bases and my piece,
covered it with one of the papers then added some crackle glaze from my stash.

when dry and crackled i added my remaining piece of fence and pots, the rest of my fussy cut pieces were layered up, i love the 3D effect that the fussy cutting and MDF create, with the help of 3d foam pads and gel medium as my glue, plus some clear gesso gives the paper pieces a bit more strength to them.

i love the colourways from this kit and mixed some paint to match for my splatters.
of course you have to finish with a few splatters!!

With All Your Heart-Scrapbook Layout

Second of my projects from the Kit and Kaboodles first kit Spring birdsong

love the layering and  texture, and of course all the fussy cutting.

firstly i did some stenciling with paste on my back ground sheet, then i found some lose weave hessian in my stash.
my fence i chopped in half, (the other half is on my final project)
another piece of the paper range that came in the kit has been cut and distressed , i then mounted my photo and after lots of fussy cutting i layered up my flowers, and added some leftover foliage from another kit.

splatters to finish.....of course.

The Birdhouse-Mixed Media

From the first kit from Kit and Kaboodles
Spring Birdsong.

love all the elements to this kit, all the mdf and acrylic.
lots to play with.

this is project 1 from this kit

i used a reverse canvas for this project, although the birdhouse came with a base i didnt use it and instead used it flat on the edge of canvas so it still made a 3D affect.

i used a brick stencil and paste for the background and the birdhouse, added some texture with the hoballs
i painted my mdf shapes, the pot, flowers and fence.

lots of fussy cutting and layering.
adding colour and splattering of course.

Celebrate Family-Scrabook Layout.

Celebrate Family-Scrapbook Layout

the 5th project from my DT kit from Thompsons craft supplies
i think i have exhausted my kit now, just a couple of little bits left now lol.

using ....
mdf words -creative embellishments
i also used some doilies, cotton lace from my stash and some paste through a stencil, sorry i cant remember the make, had it a while lol

i chose my back ground 12x12 and stenciled using a  heavy paste and a stencil, randomly on the back ground, dried it and then went over with a clear gesso, love the feel that gives.

i then ripped another sheet to make three background pieces, one a bit bigger than my photo and the other getting smaller, you can see the other two layered along the bottom of my photo.
i tucked in my doilies and lace.

for my MDF title words i sponge painted with the pink paint, i love the result with this paint.
then lots of fussy cutting from the elements sheet from the AB studio somewhere paper pack.
i then layered it all up using gel medium as my glue and 3d foam pads, i ran the pieces through my fingers to shape them which then gives them some dimension on the page.

when all was glued in place and dry i covered my photo and finished with a little splattering.

Escape, Mixed Media Notebook

Escape Notebook

second blog of the day, got a few projects to blog
this was a i cant sleep, middle of the night project, i have had a few sleepless nights in the past week or so, another project i did in the middle of the night was a scrapbook page, i will show that later.
so a little A5 notebook, could be used for all sorts of subjects.

another from my march kit from Thompsons craft supplies

the products i have used for this are available from thompsons craft supplies, see links below.

shabby velour vintage green paint
AB studio somewhere papers
hobbilicious  hobballs small

i also used some thick paste and some gel medium as my glue.

firstly i covered my note book with some of the paper using the gel paste to glue and used some open scissors to distress the edges, i added my paste through the stencil dried it and then i went round the edge randomly with some gel medium and sprinkled the hobballs over it, again i dried it and whenall was dry i dry brush painted round the edge of my notebook and over the hobballs.

i sponge painted my escape title using the shabby velour paint, you get a better result sponging with this paint i think rather than with a paint brush.

i then fussy cut from my paper pack and layered it up.
so a very quick finish but a lovely finish, would make a lovely gift.

Let's Sew It.....

Bowls and buttons and fabrics galore.
just a few of my sewing projects lately, i always forget to blog my sewing for some reason, i don't know why!!
so here are a few, with the lock in happening the girls from our meetup wanted to make this bowl that they saw in group so i did a little photo tutorial for them to follow, can wait to see the results.
using my latest delivery of fabric, the sewing themed fabric is gorgeous, there is another one in the  set and i cant wait to use it.

the project bag.
this was meant to be our workshop this coming Saturday at our meetup but of course that's not happening now, very sad, not being able to see friends and family but we all need to be safe, felt close to tears saying goodbye to the kids the other day as everyone retreated back to home.

pheww anyway the pattern for this is out there for those meant to be sewing together are now sewing apart, looking forward to seeing them all.

this set we did get to do in our last get together, and they were all so brilliant, i love this and love the fabrics, some fab results, well done all.

Live In The Moment-Mixed Media

Well what a strange, scary time we are all having, some people are scared, some people are like huh whats all the fuss about! me i don't want to be scared but do i need to be???
so i will do what i am told, i am still at work feeding the workers on site but now we are takeaway only so working out the best way to do this to keep us and them safe.

But
the thing i can control to a degree anyway, well when you have enough stash to last, well quite some time, its the one thing i can just carry on with so here is my 3rd project from my march DT kit from Thompsons craft supplies.

Live in the Moment.

Using the
all available from Louise at Thompsons craft supplies
i also used
imagination crafts paints, a brick work stencil, and an old very sturdy round place mat i found at a carboot sale.

firstly i covered my place mat with one of my papers and then distressed the edges and painted over with a clear gesso and left to dry.
in the mean time i painted my leaves made from the modeling material with the shabby velour pink paint.
and fussy cut some flowers and leaves from the bonus sheet in the paper pack.

when my back ground was dry i stenciled some of the brickwork using the green imagination craft paint.

i then found a few other bits from my stash, a paper doily, an mdf bird, some paper flowers, string pearls, i think that was it!
i painted my paper flowers with the shabby velour paint, and then layered up my clay pieces, fussy cut flowers, pearl strings and then my painted paper flowers on the top, i found a title and lastly i splattered with some more of the imagination craft paint.
