Sewing Retreat

I have been a bit quiet online for the last week, i have been away with friends on my sewing retreat.

such a lovely time with lovely people but why do they go so fast,

a full week has just gone in a flash and i feel like i need another holiday after a busy weekend as soon as i got home on Friday it was straight into a busy working weekend.

anyway we had a very productive time.

we spent our daus sewing and our evening crocheting and knitting

dolls seemed to be the theme this year, 

and we made a few lol

i also worked on a quilt for my grandson and i made an exchange quilt, plus a small gift to go with the exchange quilt.

Cherub Hanger...Mixed Media

Just a little something to keep my hand in while i pack for my retreat......i am off into the country side, well i already live in the country side but i'm off to another part of the countryside with a group of friends for a whole week of crafting.

WOOHOOOOHOOOO

only 5 hours of work to go, load the car and then off.

i will be in, feet up rolling my fingers wondering what to start with by half past three lol

CAN NOT WAIT !!

any way back the the cherub.......

a little cherub that i have taken off a candle glass and onto a pair of MDF wings, 

some hessian and string and some texture.

then some foam roses that have been waxed a little, 

some punched leaves waxed again 

and some spirals made from the stems of the roses

just added a little bit of colour to the cherub so it was not too white

and some wax to define the texture on the background wings

added a bit of ribbon.

Enjoy Today Wooden Scrapbook Layout.

It doesn't have to be a 12 x 12 cardstock to be a scrapbook layout........this layout is on 3 pieces of pallet wood, no sanding or altering, its just as it was taken from the pallet nail holes and all!!

it measures about 10x11 inch

its really nice to work on something a little different.

i am going to fit some hooks n the back to hang on the wall.

ive used crackle paste, stencils, paste and metallic paint on the back ground, i coloured the paste with ink.

i have used some acrylic flowers and the title and ephemera from the Vicki Boutin range.

we have a real outside boy here who you have trouble keeping in, this was a trip to the park to do some conker picking.

Dream Plaque....Mixed Media

i have had this hanging around for a few years, 

think it said home sweet home, not any more it now is a Dream .

lots of lovely texture then the Dream which has been painted and splattered and waxed.

adding some gorgeous Prima Flowers  and leaves and punched out leaves

i also used the stems from the leaves that i chopped off to make some spirals which add some dimension, love the result, now need somewhere to hang it.

using paste, stencils, glass glitter, paint, ink, chipboard letters, Prima flowers, gilding wax.

Mixed Media Reindeer Tag

Its all about the tags.......

well for me it is at the minute, i am really enjoying making them, they are small enough to not take too long and big enough to get all you need on, my tag is about 4"x 9"

i love this cute reindeer, he looks so cheeky and fun.

its snowing in the forest and this reindeer is loving it lol

he has a textured background with die cut trees going off into the distance, 

die cut reindeer and punched bushes along the bottom that have glossy accents.

the snow is gathering along the bottom using art stones and then painted, 

small art stones among the bushes.

then white paint splatters for the falling snow, 

love playing like this and getting all messy lol

Merry Christmas Tag....Mixed Media.

So Halloween is done and the Christmas adverts are everywhere so that means we can play Christmas doesn't it?

so i am!!

with gold and red and a hint of black thrown in so its not so in your face, well for me anyway, the usual texture base, i love the texture, i've added some punched stars.

die cut bauble  that has a solid back and then two  layers on the top which have been grunged with paste and glass glitter, coloured and topped with glossy accents and a sprinkle of glitter.

three layers of the Tim Holtz merry christmas die, coloured and then glossy accents to give it that lovely gloss finish that stands out fab on the matt finish of the base .

a bit of ribbon and some diamante dots to finish it off.

Mixed Media, My sewing Room Canvas

The clocks have changed and it is dark pretty much as soon as i get home so i'm preparing for the long winter ahead, that means bringing in my craft space from the cabin in the garden into the spare bedroom, i will still work outside during daylight at weekends when i get the chance but most of it will happen indoors!!

that also means i can work longer.....the time runs away with you lol as it did the night before last, looked at the clock one minute and it was 9pm, 10 minutes later it was 11.30pm whoopseee !!

it also means the Ipad will pick up the wifi so i have a telly too, that gets me sucked in even more as i can binge watch whatever series i have on the go while i create!

so this is last nights finish........

i wish it looked this inviting and inspiring lol

a wrong way round canvas with all the usual, 

gesso, stencils, glue gun for the embellishments, die cut manikin layered and embossed to give it a bit more substance,gesso again, then paint it all white, 

then in with the colour !

the fun and messy bit, my hands this morning prove how much fun i had lol

a rolled up bandage adds some texture, miniature sewing machine and iron, so cute, bottles of button, i just love buttons and have millions (no exaggeration lol) pins and lace and LOTS OF FLOWERS!

in with the gold wax and them splattering which i got on the ipad and on the bed as well, just to enforce how much fun i was having, 

the cat had to vacate or he would have been multi coloured too!

nice and bright to chear me up .....

its going to be along winter best play with more colour.
