Time To Dream -Alice in Wonderland

Week 3 on my guest designer slot at Thompsons craft supplies.

Playing with the Time to Dream paper pad and ephemera.

This gorgeous paper pad is actually Alice in Wonderland themed although you don't have to go with the theme, there are many options to hide the it and just use the gorgeous paper for what they are but it had to be done and let Alice shine through.

I decided on a little mini album, made from the lid of a cardboard box folded into three with the corrugated card showing through, love this effect ,

i made some pages to go inside, stuck into the spine. 

the pack has many opportunities for fussy cutting, the playing cards and labels are fab.

I got to play with the ink and paint too with some splattering.

lots of layering and i used 3d foam pads to help make some dimension.

some fussy cutting mixed up with the ephemera pack its a great result.

then i made a tag, using one of the papers as a backing sheet, some of the ephemera and a few other bits from my stash.

and of course i had to make the bottle, the pack has some lovely tags and labels to cut out, it all kept me quiet for a while, really enjoyed playing with this pack.

Mixed Media Mirror

One of the hardest things to photograph lol

trying not to get anything else in there!!

A cheap plastic framed mirror bought from a discount shop turned into something lovely.

I gesso'd the frame first and stippled it, then sprinkled some micro beads onto it and left to dry.

 Using 3D gel as my glue added all my embellishments which are mainly metal and plastic

 apart from the largest rose flower which is meant for a wedding cake, and like an art foam!!

 i gesso'd it black and glued it on with the others, by the time it has had several layers of paint on it its quite robust, it it still not solid but quite firm.

  

i then went over with a sponge and paint brush gently added different colours of metallic paint, gradually building up the colours until i was happy with the result.

i did have a heart shaped bit of paper covering the mirror while i was working but i still managed to get splatters on the mirror lol needs a good clean!

and ignore the stained roof tile, i take my photos at work as it is the best light but trying to get a good photo of a mirror without seeing other things you don't want to see it a mission lol

Another of my layouts using the AB Studio Enchanted Flowers papers

Echo of love 

this is a very special photo, well they all are but.....there should have had another taking part, this is my husband, my son and my grandson, taken at my sons wedding last year, it should have had my father in law in it too so 4 generations but we lost him two weeks before the wedding. don't wait folks if you are planning on doing these photos please don't hang around.

it took an age to find a title for this, i was thinking about it all night, i have a method i use to see how things look before sticking them down, when i am quilting i look through a door spy glass, when i am scrapping i look through a camera, so i layered it all up and then looked through the camera, still pondering about the title, i hadnt yet cut off the cardstock info strip and there was the echo of love, the name of the paper, it jumped out at me straight away.

i didn't want to over crowd this one, so just a little bit of embellishing, wanted to keep the focal point the photo rather than the embellishments.

so a bit of stenciling on the 12x12 , some distressed and inked background layered papers, some mdf cogs, not coloured, some of the fab new finabair metal leaves and a pretty gets gritty flower that has been coloured

Together- Scrapbook Layout

One of the many many photos from my sons wedding last year, this is my granddaughter and her dad.

  Using the AB Studio paper range Enchanted Flowers and other bits and pieces from my stash and bits from past kits from Thompsons craft supplies.

fussy cutting, 

these papers from Ab studio are great for that with the element sheets they include, 

sometimes in a paper pad you get a couple that you are just mmm what am i going to do with that but these are just lush and i can use all of them, not much left when i am finished lol.

i have added metallic paint on the card stock just to add another colour in to the mix and you can just see the metallic coming out in these photos, sometimes hard to pick up in a photo.

also added some stenciling with paste and with a leaf remnant after i cut out the shape i used as a template for my leaves using a distress ink.

my title was gold glitter but i have coloured it with a metallic paint to match my other colours

some die cut flourishes that i coloured the card to start with ties all the colours together and poking out from here and there adds a lovely bit of shape to the background, i love things to be touching and overlapping, just brings it all together.

 Layering is a must for me, i love height in my projects, i find it very difficult to do my pages flat lol

Hope And Desires-Scrapbook Layout.

This is my second week as guest designer for Louise at Thompsons craft supplies.

Last week i did and Alice Canvas, this week i have done a scrapbook layout.

Hopes and Desires

all of my projects from this months guest designer spot are using the Time to Dream paper pad collection which is Alice in Wonderland Themed but this just shows you that although it is a themed pad you don't have to stick with the theme, no Alice in sight!

but if you were to peal back the bottom left corner you would see white rabbit, but i have just cobered him up !

bringing some non craft items into play that are a great addition, the card is from a boc=x lid at work, pealed back to reveal the corrugated card underneath

 i love the effect this gives to projects.

stenciled brick work and a leaf stencil to start my base, then the card, torn to shape to hide white rabbit! then another of the paper pad pages torn to fit on top of the card (this had Alice on but she got left behind too for this page)

then i painted and waxed my clock,  the wooden flourish on the left of my photo and the wooden fence.(the MDF clock i actually chopped in half to save for another project)

added some other embellishments , cogs, heart, flowers, punched leaves, my title and then cover the photo and finish with some platters.

I quite enjoy a bit of fussy cutting...its a good job as i have been doing quite a bit of it lately.

My Granddaughter Mia.

i kept being drawn back to this quote when i was looking for a title for this page, 

Mia is a very loud dramatic child lol a definite middle child!

she is going to go far in life, you can just see the mischief in her face lol

i actually started on the other side of this 12x12 which is striped bit it was just not working for me so i flipped over and i was away.

die cut leaf flourishes in white to break up the darkness of her jumper and the 12x12

i made sure i used a few of the white flowers again to lighten it up a bit.

i bought some height into it by using 3d foam pads to lift the photo and some of the flowers plus the quotes.

a dash of gold here and there.

some little pearl gems dotted about and some splatters in white and gold.

a very quick page, apart from the fussy cutting but i think very effective.

Alice Canvas

Another month is over, April already, where is the year going, although i am pleased the clocks have changed the nights are lighter, its warming up, the garden is coming alive.

thank you Louise for letting me play.

I got to chose what i wanted to play with and i chose the time to dream paper pad and ephemera , sooo much to play with.

so my first project was on the alice in wonderland theme, although it didnt have to be you could use these papers without the theme just as well.

also using a prima doll stamps (as alice)

there was so many elements to play with in the paper pack and the ephemera pack, firstly i inked, painted, stamped and stenciled the canvas.

Alice was stamped, then coloured in with promarkers,  then stamped again so i could colour and layer her dress and headband and the bow to make her 3D.

i fussy cut lots out from the papers, the playing cards, flowers tag and drink me bottle.

inked lots and layered everything up using 3d foam pads and 3d gel,  and adding some wooden elements, the heart and key, i always lay and move things around a bit first to see roughly where i want it all, nothing is flat, the main flower has several layers to give the canvas height.

the black leaves are from a leaf string from another of Louises kits.

oh and cant forget the splattering.

a fun project and great way to practice lots of techniques, fussy cutting, the background, layering and colouring skin tones.
