Love This Day....Wooden scrapbook layout.

I just loved this day, we had a great time,
just in the entrance track to the field where our allotment is, is bordered by trees, we wanted to have an autumn photo shoot, so off we went with a bale of straw, lots of our pumpkins grown on the allotment and barrow'ed to the entrance, a few other props and Daisy with her camera........

we spent a couple of hours there as the sun set , it was lovely and the kids just loved playing in the trees, and we got lots of fabulous photos.
we dressed  the kids up to match the theme

to add to the theme i did this one on the wooden background, made from old pallet wood.

painted with some crackle paint, lots of embellishments made from clay and lots of drying time!!

when the clay was dry it was time to add the acrylic paint,
and then add some gilding wax to add a bit of glitz

Mixed Media Wedding Canvas

I have been sat on this for a couple of months, i made this for my son and his new wife, they got married in July and i made this for them for christmas.
it was a wonderful day, a lot of planning and hard work went into  making a fantastic day and fantastic memories.
really enjoyed making this but found it really hard to keep it quiet lol

a wooden heart mounted on a canvas,
a stencil and paste to make a textured back ground

pearl dots placed randomly give a sense of the wedding feel.

a brass picture frame painted to match the colour scheme

lots of wooden, metal and resin flowers and leaves, gesso'd and then painted white.
then in with some ink to add a bit of colour back in .

silver metallic wax to give the finish, it always adds a great finishing touch.
and
they were very  happy when they opened it on Christmas day.

Let It Snow

I think this will be the last of my Christmasy makes.....but you never know lol
i found this lovely chunky snowman and just had to have a play.
mounted on a base so i had more room to embellish.

I normally use a wooden base but didnt have one and not being able to wait i cut up a box and layered two pieces together, when all the gesso is on and dry its a lovely solid base plus it allowed me to cut into in to make a groove to stand the fence in making it a bit more solid.

3D art balls, gesso and glass glitter  for the base coat, i had to go and buy more gesso, these snowy scenes are taking up a lot, finding the works gesso a brilliant all round medium, for texture and a base im getting through a lot of it.

my let it snow letters are standing in the gesso and when dry are not going any where.

wooden snowflakes standing in the snow umm gesso too along with the fence at the back,
3D balls make a great snow effect.

buttons for his eyes, some gems for his mouth and nose and a crochet scarf to keep him warm, then a splattering of snow ....white paint

Mini Quilt Exchange

I once again took part in the mini quilt exchange, over 200 quilters too part this time, divided into groups with a group mumma,
we started to stalk our secret partners to learn their likes and dislikes.
a couple of months of stalking , planning then changing my mind this is what i came up with for my partner who on paper was me, when i read her likes and dislikes etc i could have been reading all about me so we were well matched and i really enjoyed making my mini for Melanie......

I love applique work and am really happy with my houses on the rolling hills.

using lots of the built in stitches in my machine for the details on the hills.

the quirky houses with their odd roofs
free motion quilting on the houses to form the windows and doors
and a free motion sky, all the things i love to do.

In return i received this beautiful mini quilt again with my beloved applique work and free motion quilting
received from Yas,
i just love it, my colours (autumn) and with the beautiful applique work in the heart designs,
the fab free motion quilting detail that finishes if off is just lovely.
just need to find a piece of dowel to hang it in my sewing room.
and to top it off a beautiful needle case as a gift , just love it and will use it always.

My Snowy Door....Mixed Media

I love this snowy door i have been working on it for the past week,
lots of Gesso for the snow so lots of drying time.

i love fiddling and faffing so this was right up my street, i didn't really have  a plan when i started  and it didn't involve snow but as i worked on it it just developed, as they often do.

the Gesso mixed with glass glitter and 3d balls make for perfect snow,
but does take some drying lol

and fiddling to get them round the tops of the wall and to stay long enough to dry.

but that's my faffing coming out, i love doing this to projects.

the Gesso and a stencil brick work i think looks amazing, and the brick work step.

i wish i had this in my garden and the snow lol, love fresh snow!!

then the flowers and foliage creeping up the sides, with splatters of white paint really does finish it off and give it the snowy day effect.

i am so happy with the result of this project.
come on lets have some snow for real.

Altered Jar......Mixed Media

So from the very relaxed week away on my retreat it was back straight into a very busy working week so not much time to play.
but that out of the way i have managed to start creating again, this has been waiting since before the retreat, it even went with me but never got past the gesso stage lol.
not any more here it is finished and i love it.

with all metal embellishments glued onto the gesso base that had some bits in it like glass glitter to give it some texture, then all painted white so i started off with one colour.

i then added some colour with the imaginations in sprays, an orange and a magenta, love the resulting colour mix.

with the owl as my centre piece,
i then added some silver wax just on the metal embellishments,
this made them pop from the rest of the jar.

i could use it as storage maybe for buttons or as a vase maybe,
i cant decide lol
